Evolution Of Kriya Hotels
What began as a humble, family-owned 17-room independent hotel in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, has grown into the thriving Kriya Hotels of today. Our family values and commitment to hospitality have remained at the heart of our business, driving us to innovate and expand. Now managing a diverse portfolio of branded properties, we continue to honor our roots while embracing the future of hospitality.
1981
1985
Completed our first new construction roadside motel, where every family member played a vital role in its success. From front desk to housekeeping, this hands-on approach defined our commitment to hospitality from the very beginning.
2004
Fast forward to 2004, Kriya was officially established in Oklahoma City to oversee the family’s growing portfolio of hotel assets. This marked a key step in our evolution, setting the stage for our expansion into who we are today.
2005
The Comfort Inn hotel in Granbury, TX marks the first hotel purchase after Kriya was formed and the first hotel in Texas.
During this time period Kriya acquired several underperforming hotels and was able to successfully renovate and reposition. These DFW area hotels included the Comfort Suites Las Colinas, Comfort Inn Plano, & Best Western Addison
2007
Purchased the 100-room Wingate by Wyndham in Las Colinas/Irving. This property underwent a full renovation, showcasing our commitment to enhancing guest experiences and increasing property value.
2008
Embarked on our first development project, opening the doors to the 73-room La Quinta in Grand Prairie, TX. This milestone marked our successful entry into the world of hotel development, setting the foundation for future growth.
2013
In 2013, we developed our first Hilton-branded property, the Hampton by Hilton in Trophy Club. The hotel opened to a sold-out weekend, driven by the excitement of a NASCAR event at Texas Motor Speedway, marking a significant achievement in our portfolio.
2015
We expanded our portfolio with the development of three Home2 Suites by Hilton properties, further strengthening our presence in the extended-stay market. These strategic additions reflect our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of travelers and diversifying our brand offerings.
2017
Originally opened as a La Quinta in 2017, we rebranded the property in 2022 as a Four Points by Sheraton under the Marriott brands. This strategic move aligned the hotel with a leading, globally recognized brand, enhancing its market position and guest experience.
